About Edward

Hi, I’m Ed! I’m a CELTA qualified English teacher from London, England currently studying for a Master’s degree in Voice Pedagogy. I specialise in teaching English pronunciation and accent reduction to learners of English as a second language. I have over 7 years experience teaching English pronunciation to students online and abroad. I have a passion for languages – I speak Spanish and Portuguese, and I’m currently learning Chinese – so I understand the challenges students face when learning foreign languages. About the lesson

My accent reduction lessons are for you if:

• People often misunderstand you.
• People often look confused and ask you to repeat yourself.
• You lack confidence speaking English at work and/or in social situations.
• You feel your pronunciation is holding you back in your career.
• Your pronunciation makes it more difficult to develop personal and professional relationships.
• You are struggling to integrate in an English-speaking environment because of your accent.

In our lessons we will do a variety of listening and pronunciation exercises to help you distinguish the sounds of English and produce them accurately in real conversation. The exact format of the lessons will be tailored to your specific needs but will usually include the following:

• Speech analysis
• Warm-up exercises
• Articulation training – precise tongue, lip, and jaw placement for all vowel and consonant sounds
• International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) training
• Spelling-pronunciation relationships
• Listening exercises
• Pronunciation drills
• Troubleshooting exercises
• Connected speech (linking, elision, assimilation etc)
• Stress & intonation
• Speaking exercises
• Text, diagrams & audio
• Homework exercises

I will provide all the resources necessary for you to practise at home and make rapid progress.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Master of Arts: Voice Pedagogy
• Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA)
• Over 7 years experience teaching English pronunciation to students all over the world.
• I speak with a clear and neutral British accent
