About Edward

I have always had a great passion for the English language. I graduated from University focus on BA Popular music , focusing in particular on lyricism and song writing.
I decided to become an ESL teacher , as it is a highly rewarding job as I am able to see my students progress. Of course some of my students will progress quicker than others . I am happy to accommodate all potential students ability and will of course be as patient as possible with each and every one of you.
One of the great things about being an ESL teacher is the chance to meet many students of an incredibly diverse international background. There have been times in the past where I have had a class of 10 students that have been from at least six different countries. I love to find out more about a student's country , especially if it is one I haven't had the opportunity to see. Therefore it's always wonderful to hear about particular customs and cultures of a country from a student who lives there.

About the lesson

A typical technique that I approach teaching is to allow as much time for students to speak to teach other as possible. Considering conversation is an opportunity that I have found a lot of my students are looking for. Naturally this will be enforced by the opportunity to learn new vocabulary as well as have the opportunity to go through authentic reading and listening material . I will usually source an appropriate ESL book to structure my lessons however for higher level students (B2+). I will on occasion find a newspaper article or a YouTube clip for my students to use.
Depending on the age and the level of my potential students , my lesson lengths can range from : 45 minutes up until 90 minutes.
In my 3 years of ESL experience where I have gained my CELTA qualification. I have taught a wide and diverse range of students from mid age teenagers up until adults . Similarly their ability levels have been greatly diverse. I am happiest teaching students of A2 level up until C2 level.
