About Yu
I have a bachelor degree of engineering and a master of laws, but always interested in languages. I got the idea to be a teacher of Chinese because of my high school student son’s encouragement. He told me that I am much better than his teachers when I tutored him for English. A mother could become a superman with her kid’s approval. So I attended professional training and passed the most authoritative certificate test with 36 scores higher, obtained the certificate for teachers of Chinese to speakers of other languages issued by Confucius Institute Headquarters.
I am positive...mostly, humorous...trying, enthusiastic... always. Be good at communication and attuned to people's feelings.My teacheing goal is to help students know better about China on their way of learning authentic Chinese language.

Hi there. I'm Jane from China, nice to meet you.
你好，我是Jane，来自中国，很高兴见到你。
My Chinese name is Zhang Yu. Yu is difficult for English speakers as no similar pronunciation in English. My friends always call me “you”. “ u ” actually is “ ü ”, with two eyes on the top. Let’s make it easier to pronounce. First, say “i:”. Then stay the tongue still, only move lips to round out the mouth. Good job. Now add a questioning tone, like “what?”. Perfect, you make it.
To make our class effective, I will use modular approach to teach, create a Chinese environment and more opportunities for you to practice output in the class. I also have lots of study tips to share with you. Tones are indistinguishable? Chinese characters are difficult to recognize? No worries. It's just like music and construction. I will help you to make structural analysis to build them up in your mind.
I will customize a lesson plan for you and tailor the lessons to your goals and pacing. Through my lessons, you will learn how to speak Chinese from daily life conversation to social language in all fields, classic culture appreciating to hot topics tracing. Get more information about the colorful Chinese society. If you like a challenge, I will also help you to pass the Chinese level test, HSK or YCT.
