About Jessy Lou

Hello! I’m Jessy Lou, a certified and experienced teacher with 8 years of teaching experience, including 5 years of international teaching experience in the United States. I am passionate about helping students improve their English skills while making learning enjoyable, comfortable, and meaningful.

I hold an Arizona teaching certificate and a Philippine Professional Teacher’s License (LPT). My teaching experience has allowed me to work with students from different backgrounds, learning levels, and needs.

As a tutor, I am patient, encouraging, and student-centered. I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and expressing their ideas. I believe that building confidence is just as important as developing academic skills.

I can provide personalized support in English, reading, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, and speaking. Whether you need help understanding a story, improving your reading skills, preparing for an assignment, or becoming more confident in English, I will tailor each lesson to your goals.

My goal is simple: to help every student feel more confident, capable, and motivated to learn. I look forward to helping you reach your learning goals!

About the lesson

I believe that every student learns differently, so I use a patient, supportive, and student-centered approach. My goal is to make learning English enjoyable while helping students build confidence and become independent learners.

Teaching Methods & Techniques
I use interactive discussions, guided reading, comprehension questions, vocabulary-building activities, writing exercises, and real-life examples. I adjust my teaching style based on the student’s learning level, interests, strengths, and areas that need improvement. I also encourage students to ask questions, share their ideas, and explain their thinking rather than simply memorizing answers.

A Typical Lesson
A 30–60 minute lesson may begin with a short warm-up or review of previous learning. We then focus on the main skill for the session, such as reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, or speaking. For reading lessons, we may read a passage together, discuss key ideas and vocabulary, answer comprehension questions, and analyze characters, themes, or important details. We finish with a quick review and a clear goal for the student to work on next.

What Sets Me Apart
As an experienced teacher, I understand the importance of creating a comfortable learning environment where students feel safe making mistakes and asking questions. I combine structure with encouragement and personalize lessons to make them meaningful and engaging. I want students not only to improve their English skills but also to develop the confidence to use those skills independently.

My lessons are suitable for elementary, middle school, and high school students, as well as learners who want to strengthen their English skills. I can help with reading, reading comprehension, vocabulary, grammar, writing, speaking, and general English communication. I also provide support for students who need help understanding literature, preparing for assignments, or developing stronger academic reading skills.
