About Gabriela
Excellent U.S. and international tutoring since 1992 2002-2004 Master of Arts degree in European Studies (International Business major), The George Washington University; Italian and French entry/exit exams, The George Washington University, The Elliott School of International Affairs; coursework at Georgetown University, Washington D.C. 1988-1992 Bachelor of Arts degree in Philology (English major, Romanian minor), University of Bucharest, The School of Philology, Romania 2016-2018 Online coursework, free courses of Université Paris-Sorbonne 1997 Language and culture studies: The Italian Center (Naples, Italy), France Langue (Nice, France) Painting courses with professional painters Sam Adoquei (National Academy of Art, New York City, 2008) and Dave Kramer (Dallas, TX, 2009) I have passed the required certification exams and am experienced in all the subjects listed on this site. I have studied English, French, and Italian languages and literatures since childhood; after becoming a U.S. citizen, I earned a Master of Art degree at George Washington University (one of the four D.C. universities listed in the QS World University Ranking, 2018). I acquired U.S. citizenship in 1997 and have resided in Maryland, New York City, and Texas for the past 22 years (moved to Texas in 2009). In Washington D.C. and Virginia, I instructed and tested U.S. diplomats through Inlingua School. Throughout a career in which my goal has been to constantly perfect and employ my knowledge of languages, I have also published translations: novels for Colosseum Publishing House, poetry for The American Literary Translators Association at Texas University, a French book for LiterArt XXI, and numerous business books for Open University Business School (U.K.). My personal articles and poems were published in The International Notebook of Poetry and Origins-LiterArt XXI. In Texas, I volunteered with English editing for the Conservative Party of Texas, USA. I also teach drawing and painting (studied painting primarily at the Academy of Art in New York City and in Dallas, with artists Sam Adoquei and Dave Kramer). I am certified and very experienced in English test preparation (Grammar, Literature, Reading Writing; SAT, STAAR, AP, TOEFL, TOEIC); French, Italian, and Art. Unlike most tutors, I use "Subject-Immersion", a method that has rendered superior results very fast. For example, you will receive in-class lessons plus guided online sources for self-study between classes and, in some cases, Q&A e-mail correspondence, the purpose being to keep you "immersed" daily in the subject. My lessons are personalized to fit each student's goal and level. I have taught students of all ages: the youngest was 5 years old, the oldest was 76 years old -- and, of course, all the school grades, college, and corporate levels in between. I am a 5-star tutor on other websites. I love my profession and have invested most of my life in it, therefore you will find a very dedicated teacher by hiring me.
