About Deborah

My name is Deborah, and I am a certified bilingual educator specializing in math and reading instruction for students in kindergarten through 8th grade. I bring to the classroom not only professional training and credentials, but something equally powerful — a personal understanding of what it feels like to struggle.
For much of my early education, I was convinced that math simply was not for me. I lacked confidence, not because I lacked ability, but because no one was teaching in a way that reached me as a hands-on, visual learner. Everything changed the moment math was presented in a way that made sense to how my mind worked. That breakthrough gave me the courage to pursue higher education, and I went on to earn a master's degree in Business — proof that no student is beyond reach with the right support.
That journey is the foundation of my teaching philosophy. I am committed to ensuring that no child in my classroom ever feels lost, left behind, or afraid to try. I know how to identify where a student is struggling, how to adjust my approach, and how to build the kind of confidence that opens doors. Whether your child is just beginning their learning journey or working through more advanced material, I am here — qualified, experienced, and deeply invested in their success.

About the lesson

I know what it feels like to sit in a math class and feel completely lost — not because I wasn't smart, but because no one was teaching in a way that made sense to me. I was a hands-on, visual learner, and when I finally had math explained in a way that clicked, everything changed. I went on to earn my Master's degree in Business and Accounting — a goal I once thought was out of reach because of my fear of numbers. That experience didn't just shape my education, it shaped the kind of teacher I became. I refuse to let any child sit in my classroom feeling the way I once felt. I know how to reach the student who is struggling, frustrated, or convinced they're "just not a math person" — because I was that student. As a certified bilingual educator specializing in math and reading for grades K–8, I bring both the credentials and the lived experience to meet every learner where they are.
