About Mackenzie
Hi!
My name is Mackenzie Brower and science is not just a subject I teach, it is truly a passion of mine. I live my life every day using what I have learned in science courses about the environment, my own body, my nutrition, my health etc. My hobbies fit in with the pattern as I love to fish, hike, exercise, play sports, read, cook (and eat!), read, be on the water and explore. I love being outdoors and that (along with my love for animals) is what initially sparked my interest in science as a kid and my curiosity never stops growing.
My aim in becoming a science teacher was to show students that science is not as bad as people think it is and that understanding science is essential for life! There are so many ways in which science overlaps with your every day life and I hope that by showing you this connection it will help you to not only understand the subject (and do well in school!) but also appreciate the subject and see how this knowledge will benefit you for the rest of your life!

I am a certified high school science teacher. I have taught for 3 years in my own classroom plus a year of student teaching, two years as a long term substitute and 1 year as a Teaching Assistant.
I have a Bachelors degree in Biology and a Masters degree in Secondary Education.
I currently teach; Honors Biology, Biology and Environmental Science
I have taught; Co-taught Biology (including students with IEPs/504s), Algebra 1, Forensic Science
I have tutored for; Biology, Honors Anatomy & Physiology, AP Biology
I have a lot of lessons already prepared since I am a full time teacher, but can also create and find more as needed to best fit the student's needs. I believe in teaching through exploration and hands on activities. I truly believe that students learn best when they can understand why they are learning something and when it can be tied to real life situations.
