With 15 years of experience teaching second grade, I focus on building a strong foundation in reading and phonics through explicit, systematic, and engaging instruction. I use a mix of multi-sensory strategies (visual, auditory, and kinesthetic activities) so lessons connect with different learning styles. I believe that confidence fuels learning, so I create a warm, supportive environment where students feel safe taking risks and celebrating progress.
Typical Lesson Plan:
Warm-Up (5–10 minutes): Quick review of previously learned skills to reinforce retention and build confidence.
Targeted Instruction (20–25 minutes): Focus on a specific reading or phonics skill (decoding, fluency, comprehension). Lessons are hands-on and tailored to your child’s exact needs.
Practice & Application (10–15 minutes): Games, guided reading, or interactive exercises to apply new skills.
Wrap-Up & Take-Home Strategy (5 minutes): Reflection on what was learned and a simple activity or tip for continued practice at home.
What Sets Me Apart:
Deep expertise: 15 years working directly with young learners, including struggling readers and students who need enrichment.
Individualized plans: I assess each child’s strengths and needs, then design a personalized roadmap for growth.
Patience & encouragement: I know how to motivate hesitant readers while challenging advanced learners.
Proven results: My students consistently grow in reading fluency, comprehension, and overall confidence.
Who My Lessons Are For:
Elementary students, primarily K–3rd grade, though I also support struggling readers up to 5th grade.
Children who need help with phonics, decoding, fluency, comprehension, or building confidence.
Learners who need extra enrichment to stay challenged beyond the classroom curriculum.
