About Zakir

After working in the tourism industry in Asia for about a decade, I came across my first teaching experience in 2012 when I joined a Singaporean tourism training institute. There, I taught English for hotels (a business English course) for a period of two years.

Today, after finishing my graduation from La Rochelle Business School, a post-graduation from Kedge Business School, and a Teaching English as a Foreign Language certification from The TEFL Academy, I am independently launching a new career in teaching General and Business English.

About the lesson

My teaching offers a personalized integral development learning style, focusing on the three linguistic components: pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, and the four language skills: speaking, reading, listening, and writing.

Whether you need help with homework at school or preparing for your exams, whether you are applying abroad for studies or work, whether you need to get better at the language as you have a lot of English speaking colleagues or you work with anglophones, I am here to work with you in making English simple and easy. I work with high school students as well as with adults. My goal is to bring you closer to the English-speaking world and guide you to communicate naturally, thus boosting your confidence and reducing your fear of English communication.

My classes are inter-linked to ensure that you repeat and practice things that you have already learned. This is what will help you to become fluent. For example, if you are an intermediate level user of English, and we had a grammar lesson on the present perfect continuous tense, you will receive immediate homework after the class, and future homework on this tense. In future lessons (not necessarily a grammar lesson, it can be a listening skills lesson), I will ensure that the usage of this tense comes up and you further your practice. Additionally, I will provide numerous fun and interactive exercises that you can do by yourself at home or during your leisure time to further your exposure to the language learned. I will maintain a record to evaluate how much practice and re-exposure you are having to the things you are learning.

Research shows that a language learner needs to see a vocabulary in context 6 to 17 times before they can use it expertly. My role as a teacher will focus on this. To stimulate the long-term memory of the language you will learn, I will review the language several times over a period of 6 months.

Here are the programs I am currently offering; each lesson has a duration of 1 hour:

1. General English Aptitude- A1 (beginner) to C1 (advanced) lessons (following English curricula from University of Cambridge, University of Oxford, Pearson, and Macmillan education) according to CEFR (The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

(i) Holistic Lessons (covering grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, speaking, writing, listening, and reading lessons).

(ii) Conversational Lessons (focusing intensively on speaking fluency).

Package: Please get in touch with me for customized packages. I can design a 5-hour course (1.5 months), a 10-hour course (3 months), or a shorter/longer course according to your needs.

2. Business English Aptitude- Specialized courses according to different sectors and needs. Below are the courses I am offering under this program:

(i) Business English 101- To develop your communication skills for emails, telephone conversations, meetings, and presentations. A 24-hour course, the weekly rhythm is adjustable as per your requirement.

(ii) Sectoral Business English - These are courses for both aspiring young adults hoping to launch a career in any of these specific sectors as well as professionals who are already working in these sectors. These courses will concretely improve your relevant technical English skills. The weekly rhythm is adjustable as per your requirement.
Customer Service- 12-hour course.
Cabin Crew- 16-hour course.
Human Resources- 12-hour course.
Sales and Marketing- 26-hour course.
Fashion Industry: 16-hour course.
