About the lesson

Hello! I'm Soyeun, a native Korean tutor living in the United Kingdom.

I've been living in the UK with my family since 2013, so I understand the challenges of learning a language that's different from your own. Because of this, I create a relaxed, supportive, and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable speaking Korean and building confidence step by step.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy running, practicing yoga, and reading. These hobbies help me stay positive and energized, and I bring that same enthusiasm into every lesson.

I have completed all the required coursework for Korean language teaching and am scheduled to receive my Level 2 Korean Language Teacher Certification in October.

My Teaching Experience

My teaching journey began during my master's studies, when I started tutoring Korean to my international friends. What started as helping friends soon became a genuine passion for teaching.

Since then, I've taught learners of different ages and backgrounds—from a 12-year-old student to adult learners. These experiences have taught me how to adapt lessons to each student's learning style, goals, and interests.

My Background

I hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Economics and Finance.

After graduating, I worked at a bank in South Korea and later as a researcher at a government-funded research institute. These professional experiences strengthened my communication, organization, and analytical skills, which now help me design well-structured lessons and explain Korean in a clear, logical, and easy-to-understand way.

My Teaching Style

I believe every student learns differently, so every lesson is personalized to match your level, learning style, and goals.

I continuously develop my teaching materials and lesson plans to make learning Korean practical, engaging, and rewarding. My goal is not only to help you improve your Korean but also to make every lesson something you genuinely look forward to.

Beginner Korean

Build a strong foundation in Korean through topics that interest you.

Whether you're learning Korean for travel, daily life, food, hobbies, or Korean culture, lessons are tailored to your interests.

You'll learn practical vocabulary and useful expressions through conversation and real-life situations, helping you build confidence from your very first lesson.

We'll learn step by step at a pace that's comfortable for you.

Intermediate Korean

Ready to move beyond textbook Korean?

We'll focus on the natural expressions and vocabulary that native speakers actually use. Using discussions, articles, videos, and other authentic materials, you'll improve your listening, speaking, and overall communication skills.

I'll help you sound more natural while building both accuracy and confidence.

TOPIK Preparation

Preparing for TOPIK?

Lessons are based on past exam papers and targeted practice activities.

According to your target score and exam date, I'll create a personalized study plan and teach effective strategies for listening, reading, and writing so you can approach the exam with confidence.
