About Rene

Hello! Kumusta? My name is Rene, your friendly and patient language teacher. I was born and raised in the Philippines but residing in Japan for 20 years.

I'm fluent in English, Tagalog, Bicol, and intermediate level Japanese. I teach English and Tagalog.

I received a degree in Secondary Education Major in English and passed the licensure examination for teachers. I have 15 years of experience teaching children and adults, doing it in person and online.

Teaching is my passion. I love to see my students achieve their goals in their language journey. Music, arts, and culture are my interests. I include topics like these in my lessons. My idea is to integrate the language into daily life to make learning a light and natural experience.

About the lesson

In my class you will learn basic Tagalog words that are very useful in everyday conversation. From lesson 1 you can already speak basic sentences like simple greetings and self-introduction. My teaching style will enable you to speak the language, understand, and be understood within a short period of time. My lesson is always fun, effective and tailored to your needs.

I use carefully planned well-structured lessons that follow practical steps rather than strict grammatical order. You will learn simple vocabulary that is sufficient and useful for daily needs. I always prepare personalized and interesting digital presentations to enhance motivation and have fun learning. Pictures (visual aids) are used to make the lesson more dynamic and interactive. I always engage my student in a relevant, real-life scenario presented in a role play to develop language and literacy skills, including vocabulary and storytelling. We will have regular practice for every lesson to create opportunities for interaction and improve memory retention through active recall.
