About Cynthia
As a certified math teacher who specializes in middle school learners, my mission is simple: to help your child feel confident, capable, and successful in math. I know this age can be challenging—students are balancing new concepts, new expectations, and a growing desire for independence. That’s why my lessons are designed to be encouraging, hands-on, and easy to understand, so your child can finally feel that “I get this!” moment. Parents consistently tell me they appreciate my calm, patient teaching style and the way I break down difficult topics into steps that actually make sense. Students appreciate that I explain math in a friendly, relatable way and never make them feel embarrassed for asking questions. Every session is built around what your child needs—whether that’s catching up, staying on track, or getting ahead. My goal is to reduce stress for families, boost confidence for students, and make math something they can succeed in, not fear. With a positive approach and a strong foundation in effective teaching methods, I help middle schoolers build skills they can rely on throughout the school year and beyond. I’m here to support your child, celebrate their progress, and help them discover that math is something they can truly understand—and even enjoy.

My Tutoring Approach
As a tutor, I believe students learn best when they can see and touch math in action. I use a hands-on, interactive approach that helps middle school learners move beyond memorizing formulas and instead understand how math truly works. My goal is to build confidence, strengthen problem-solving skills, and make learning feel achievable—even for students who have struggled in the past.
Teaching Methods and Techniques
-Hands-On Learning: I use real-world examples, visual models, manipulatives, and step-by-step demonstrations to make abstract concepts concrete.
-Breakdown Method: Complex problems are broken into clear, manageable steps that reduce overwhelm and build mastery.
-Guided Practice: Students solve problems along with me, gradually taking more responsibility as they become confident.
-Supportive Feedback: I reinforce strengths while addressing misunderstandings immediately, so students don’t get stuck or discouraged.
-Multiple Learning Styles: I incorporate visual, auditory, and kinesthetic strategies to match how each student learns best.
A Typical Lesson Plan
-Quick Warm-Up: Review a previous skill to activate memory and start with a win.
-Concept Introduction: Teach new material using hands-on examples, drawings, or demonstration models.
-Guided Practice: Work through several problems together, focusing on reasoning and techniques.
-Independent Practice: The student tries problems on their own while I coach and correct in real time.
-Skill Check: A brief exit question or challenge problem to confirm understanding.
-Customized Next Steps: I recommend exactly what the student should review, practice, or preview before the next session.
