About I-Hsuen

Hi, I’m I-Hsuen, a certified and passionate math tutor specializing in Grades 9 to 12.

I hold a B.Sc. in Mathematics (Specialization) from McMaster University and earned my B.Ed. and OCT certification from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE, University of Toronto). I’m also CSTC-certified, and fluent in both English and Mandarin.

Over the years, I have worked with students both in classrooms and one-on-one. I specialize in making challenging topics like algebra, functions, and trigonometry clear and approachable. I adapt my teaching to each student’s learning style to build both understanding and confidence. My approach is to simplify complex concepts to help students make connections. Students often tell me they can understand me easily and feel more confident after just a few sessions.

About the lesson

I’m a certified Ontario high school math teacher (OCT #529273) with CSTC certification and 15+ (and counting) years of classroom teaching experience in Grades 9–12, along with more than 20 years of tutoring experience. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and specialize in the Ontario curriculum, including Algebra, Functions, Advanced Functions, and Calculus & Vectors. I work exclusively with high school students (Grades 9–12). I’m fluent in both English and Mandarin and can communicate with students or families in either language. I offer in-person, one-on-one or small group sessions (maximum 3 students, discount rate applied) in the Ancaster and Hamilton area—either at your home or at a local library. No contracts. Pay per session.
