  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring? My passion for mathematics and chemistry began during my own school years when I found these subjects to be both challenging and intellectually stimulating. I was drawn to the logical problem-solving aspects of mathematics and the fascinating world of chemical reactions and molecular structures in chemistry. As I progressed in my studies, I realized the importance of knowledgeable and passionate educators who guided me through these subjects. This realization inspired me to pursue a career in teaching so that I could share my love for mathematics and chemistry with others and help them navigate these disciplines effectively.

Moreover, my interest in mathematics dates back to my childhood, where I found joy in solving puzzles, playing with numbers, and exploring the patterns and logic inherent in mathematical concepts. This early fascination laid the foundation for my lifelong passion for the subject and ultimately fueled my desire to inspire and educate others in the field.
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

In mathematics, I teach a wide range of topics including algebra, calculus, geometry, trigonometry, and statistics. I particularly enjoy topics like calculus and algebra, as they form the backbone of many mathematical concepts and applications. However, I understand that some students may find these topics challenging, so I always strive to make them more accessible through clear explanations and practical examples. Similarly, in chemistry, I cover areas such as chemical bonding, stoichiometry, kinetics, and thermodynamics. I find the concepts of chemical bonding and equilibrium particularly fascinating, but I also recognize that students may struggle with abstract concepts such as quantum mechanics or organic chemistry reactions
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

I've been fortunate to have had several inspiring teachers who fueled my passion for mathematics and chemistry. One teacher, in particular, stands out for her enthusiasm and dedication to her students' success. She had a unique ability to make complex topics seem simple and approachable, which greatly influenced my teaching style. Her encouragement and support inspired me to become the kind of educator who fosters curiosity and critical thinking in my own students. In addition to my teachers, I must also mention my father, who was a great teacher to me in many ways. He instilled in me a love for learning and encouraged my curiosity from a young age. His unwavering support and belief in my abilities shaped my academic journey and fueled my passion for teaching. Unfortunately, I lost him to COVID-19, which was a devastating loss. However, his memory continues to inspire me every day as I strive to make a positive impact on the lives of my students, just as he did for me.
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

The qualities I believe are essential for being a successful tutor in mathematics and chemistry include patience, clarity of explanation, adaptability, and genuine passion for the subjects. Patience is crucial when working with students who may struggle with certain concepts, and clear explanations help students understand complex ideas more easily. Adaptability allows me to tailor my teaching methods to suit each student's individual learning style, while my passion for mathematics and chemistry motivates and inspires my students to engage with the material.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

One memorable anecdote involves a student who had always struggled with algebraic concepts, particularly quadratic equations. Despite numerous attempts to grasp the material, they felt discouraged and overwhelmed. Through patient guidance and personalized support, I helped the student break down the problem into smaller, more manageable steps. Eventually, they had a breakthrough moment when everything clicked, and they successfully solved a quadratic equation on their own. Witnessing their newfound confidence and excitement was incredibly rewarding and reinforced the importance of perseverance and individualized support in teaching.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

Common difficulties that students often face in mathematics and chemistry include understanding abstract concepts, applying theoretical knowledge to practical problems, and overcoming test anxiety. To address these challenges, I employ various teaching strategies such as visual aids, real-life examples, and interactive problem-solving activities. I also emphasize the importance of practice and provide ample opportunities for students to apply their knowledge in different contexts. Additionally, I offer guidance on study techniques and test-taking strategies to help students manage their stress and perform to the best of their abilities
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

My passion lies in both teaching and the intricate beauty of mathematics and chemistry. I am deeply fascinated by the fundamental principles that govern these subjects and the endless possibilities they offer for exploration and discovery. Moreover, I find immense fulfillment in helping students develop a deeper appreciation for these disciplines and empowering them to achieve their academic goals. Whether it's sparking curiosity in a reluctant learner or witnessing the "aha" moment of understanding, I am continually inspired by the transformative power of education.
  • What makes you a Superprof ?

What sets me apart as a Superprof in the field of mathematics and chemistry is my commitment to providing personalized support and fostering a positive learning environment for my students. I strive to create engaging and interactive lessons that cater to each student's unique needs and learning style. Additionally, my extensive knowledge and passion for the subjects enable me to convey complex concepts in a clear and understandable manner. By combining expertise with empathy and enthusiasm, I aim to inspire a lifelong love of learning in my students and equip them with the skills they need to succeed academically and beyond.
