Methodology

As an educator, I utilize my knowledge and resources to provide opportunities fit to each individual student. Learning is never a one-size-fits-all approach and it is very important to me to find what works for each individual student. I am energetic and try to make my lessons fun and applicable to the real world, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with you!

Background

I received my Bachelor's degree in Music Education in 2019 and have 7 years of experience teaching one-on-one lessons, small group lessons, and in larger classroom settings. My highest level of expertise is in brass performance and teaching, but I am also certified to teach all instruments and general music topics. I also have an interest and knowledge in music production that I am excited to share with my students.

Aliyah has had musical training in many different genres, including classical, funk, hip hop, gospel, electronic, and contemporary styles. Up with People, Denver, CO - Cast Member, USA Representative
JANUARY 2020 - MARCH 2020
Tour with a performance group, visiting more than 20 communities on two continents across the world.
Part of this tour was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Further cultural awareness and understanding through immersive experiences, such as community discovery and host family living. Volunteer 8-12 hours a week of community service specific to the needs of each community visited. Participate in 4-6 hours a week of educational workshops geared towards professional development and global citizenship. Perform at least one show a week. This is a two-hour professionally produced show including singing, dancing, acting, and instrument playing. Aliyah performed the lead vocal role in the show. Earn academic credits through three study abroad classes, focusing on small group communication, intercultural communication, and contemporary leadership models. Community Action Crew Leader: Work with Education Coordinators to organize and disseminate pertinent information to community service outings to cast members. Act as the main point of contact between the Up with People organization and volunteer organizations on the day of service. Lead preparation and debrief discussions for volunteers. Horn Section Leader: Arrange, coach, and perform with the horn section for the annual Up with People fundraising gala (February 29, 2020).
