Hello! My name is Reiko, and I am a professional Japanese language instructor originally from Tokyo, now living in Sydney.
With over 15 years of teaching experience and a formal qualification from the 420-hour Advanced Japanese Teacher Training Course, I bring both deep pedagogical knowledge and real-world expertise to every lesson. I have spent my career focusing on the quality of learning for each individual student.

As a native speaker of the Tokyo dialect (standard Japanese), I ensure that you learn the most natural and clear form of the language. Hi! I’m Reiko, a native Japanese tutor born and raised in Tokyo, now based in Sydney. With over 15 years of teaching experience and a completed 420-hour Advanced Japanese Teacher Training Course, I am dedicated to helping beginners in Australia and worldwide take their first steps with confidence.
1. Techniques and Methodology
I believe language learning should be practical and stress-free. My method focuses on "Indirect Method" (using English for explanations) for absolute beginners to ensure you understand the "why" behind the grammar, and "Direct Method" (immersion) as you progress. I use visual aids, real-life scenarios, and interactive drills to make sure you’re not just memorizing, but actually speaking.
2. Typical Lesson Structure
A standard lesson is 60 minutes, but I am flexible depending on your goals.
• First 10 mins: Warm-up & Review of previous topics.
• 30 mins: New grammar/vocabulary with practical examples.
• 15 mins: Role-play or free conversation to build fluency.
• Last 5 mins: Feedback and goal setting for the next session.
3. My Qualifications & Experience
As a certified professional, I’ve spent 15 years refining my curriculum. Being from Tokyo, I teach clear, standard Japanese (Hyojungo) which is essential for any learner. I’ve helped hundreds of students pass exams, prepare for trips to Japan, and master daily conversation.
