About Alejandro

I've spent 5 years tutoring Spanish privately, hailing from Madrid. My approach is all about setting and achieving goals together—I thrive when you succeed. Recognising that everyone learns differently, I tailor my methods to suit your unique learning style. Whether you're aiming for academic success (like KSE, GCSE, A levels, University, IB, Adults) or simply want to master Spanish from scratch, I've got you covered. We'll dive straight into your objectives, whether it's acing an exam, tackling homework, or starting from square one. For those aiming for fluency, we'll cover Speaking, Listening, Reading, and Writing comprehensively. My dynamic teaching style incorporates smart speaking, video resources, interactive whiteboards, real-life scenarios, and plenty of repetition to keep things engaging. My goal? To make learning both enjoyable and effective, with your progress always in focus.

About the lesson

I’m an enthusiastic online Spanish tutor from Madrid, with a master’s degree in Teaching Education and over five years of teaching experience. I’m passionate about helping my students succeed by creating a learning environment that’s both engaging and effective. My goal is to make lessons fun and interactive, ensuring that my students not only learn but also retain over 90% of what we cover together—something I take great pride in. I use a student-centred approach, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and needs, and always incorporating dynamic, interactive materials to keep things interesting. Having worked with a diverse group of learners and travelled extensively, I’m highly adaptable to different cultural backgrounds and student expectations. Outside of teaching, I’m an avid sports fan, with a love for football, skiing, tennis, golf, and surfing. My passion for sports often brings an energetic, enthusiastic vibe to my lessons, helping me connect with students on a deeper level.

Definitely a long-term teacher worth sticking with as he focuses on having actionable goals with each lesson, rather than blindly studying until you get frustrated. He takes the time to adapt to the students' needs and is open to suggestions; never be afraid to communicate what you're hoping to achieve with Alejandro Porongon. He'll do especially well if you provide some prep time before hand, but without it, he's kind and patient to give opportunities to communicate your goals or give a few pointers and tips going forward.

Yes, here in Spain it is really common to say: Muchas gracias! to say Thank you

It matters a lot to me because it is the way to connect with other people and it helps a lot when I go to other countries that speak the same language, particularly Latin countries.
What is the main difficulty in learning this language and what can help the process of learning?
Difficulties: Gender, number, and grammar agreement., verbal forms, ser o estar, the subjunctive mood.

Something that really helps in the process is to have a tutor.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your language learning or your days at school.
I used to spend my evenings learning the grammar and asking my teacher about the history behind the language.
How has travel or a specific trip helped you to increase your skill and knowledge of the language?
Yes, I remember traveling to Colombia, and learning all the different Spanish expressions that here in Spain we don't use.
