About Savannah
Hello! My name is Savannah Hitchner and I am 20 years old. I am a Certified Paraprofessional in the State of Georgia, as well as a Middle Grades Math & Science Major at Valdosta State University, though I am taking a short sabbatical to work a little bit. I am currently working at Chick-Fil-A on St. Augustine Rd in Valdosta, GA. I tend to work at night so my tutoring sessions would most likely be before 2 o'clock. I use a hybrid of demonstrative and facilitative teaching methods to let my students first learn the verbiage, meanings, or functions of each lesson with notes. Then I typically would give them questions/problems/charts to work on with me while I watch over or ask them to explain their answers to me. After I feel confident that my student knows the material well, I would give them a quick "quiz" then look over it to see what else we would need to go over again. As an education major this is how a majority of classrooms are set up, so I believe it is good to keep a similar itinerary so the student can succeed inside the classroom as well. For a little background of myself, I have 6 siblings, 4 which are younger, and 2 of those having struggles at school. Therefore I have experience with students who need a little bit of extra support. I typically would tutor grades 6-8, but I am very open to tutoring younger and maybe some older.
