About Kyra

My name is Kyra, and I am a certified K–6 teacher with experience supporting students in elementary education and middle school mathematics. I am passionate about helping students build strong academic foundations while also developing confidence in their abilities as learners.

I currently work in a classroom setting, which gives me daily experience with a wide range of learning styles, academic needs, and instructional strategies. This allows me to adapt quickly to each student and provide support that is both effective and encouraging.

My goal as a tutor is to create a structured and supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and growing at their own pace. I focus on breaking down complex concepts into clear, manageable steps so that students can truly understand the material rather than simply memorize it.

I believe that every student is capable of success with the right guidance, patience, and instruction tailored to their needs. I use a student-centered approach that adapts to each learner’s needs. I begin by identifying strengths, gaps, and learning style through informal assessment and conversation. I then use:

Typical Lesson Plan

A typical session is structured but flexible depending on student needs:

Quick check-in (5 minutes) – review progress, homework, or concerns
Skill review or concept introduction (10–15 minutes) – targeted instruction on current needs
Guided practice (15–25 minutes) – working through problems together step-by-step
Independent practice (10–15 minutes) – student demonstrates understanding with support available
Wrap-up (5 minutes) – review key takeaways and assign optional practice if needed

Sessions are adjusted based on age, attention span, and subject difficulty.
