About Rachel
I help students who feel overwhelmed by math finally feel capable and confident.
With over 20 years of one-on-one teaching experience, I specialize in supporting learners who:
• feel behind
• struggle to understand classroom instruction
• lose confidence when math gets challenging
I understand both public and private school expectations and guide students through BC curriculum and assessment standards, including the Proficiency Scale — so they not only complete work, but truly understand it.
Students I work with often begin feeling anxious or unsure. Through patient, compassionate instruction, I create a space where they feel safe asking questions, making mistakes, and rebuilding confidence.
My strength is breaking complex math concepts into clear, manageable steps — helping students move from confusion to clarity and from frustration to independence.
I am experienced in working with students who benefit from structured, individualized support and accept AFU funding.

My lessons are designed to meet each student where they are — whether they are catching up, building confidence, or preparing for advanced coursework.
With over 24 years of experience teaching mathematics from elementary foundations through university-level topics, I tailor instruction to match each learner’s pace, needs, and learning style.
I specialize in supporting:
• students who feel behind
• students with IEPs, diverse learning needs, or mental health barriers
• learners who need structured, step-by-step support
Lessons focus on:
building real understanding
reducing overwhelm
developing independent problem-solving skills
Rather than rushing through content, I break concepts into manageable steps so students can confidently apply what they learn.
I hold a BA in Mathematics and Psychology and a B.Ed in Secondary Mathematics, and I am currently pursuing dual master’s degrees in Mathematics.
I accept AFU (Autism Funding Unit) support and offer both in-person and online lessons.
My goal is to make math feel clear, achievable, and even enjoyable — for every type of learner.
