About Jai

I graduated from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Business Analytics and minors in Finance and Economics. I passed the CFA Level II exam in November 2024 — a rigorous professional credential in finance and investment analysis that requires mastery of quantitative methods, economics, financial reporting, and portfolio theory across two levels of examination.

Since graduating I have worked on independent financial research and valuation projects, building professional-grade analytical models and written reports that apply the same quantitative and financial reasoning I teach.

I also played four years of Division III varsity football at RPI, serving as a position leader my senior year — which taught me how to break down complex systems, communicate clearly under pressure, and get the best out of people with different learning styles and backgrounds.

I have been the person in the room who other students come to when something is not clicking. At RPI I regularly worked through coursework with teammates and classmates in finance, economics, statistics, and math, translating dense material into something that actually made sense. That experience — not just knowing the subject but knowing how to explain it to someone who is stuck — is what I bring to every tutoring session.

I am patient, direct, and focused on results. I will tell you honestly when you are on the right track and when you need to approach something differently. My goal in every session is that you leave understanding something you did not understand when you walked in — and that you could explain it to someone else by the time we are done.

My approach starts with diagnosing where you are before teaching anything. The first session is always a conversation — what are you stuck on, what makes sense intuitively, and where does it break down. From there every session is built around your specific gap, not a generic curriculum.

For math and quantitative subjects I focus on building the underlying logic rather than memorizing procedures. A student who understands why a concept works can solve problems they have never seen before. A student who memorized steps cannot. Whether we are working through algebra, statistics, calculus, or business math, the goal is always genuine understanding that holds up on an exam and in the next course.

A typical session runs 60 to 90 minutes. We start with a quick check on what you worked on since last time, spend the bulk of the session working through problems together — not me talking and you watching — and close with a clear plan for what to practice before next time.

My lessons are best suited for middle school and high school students building math fundamentals, college students in introductory through intermediate math, statistics, economics, and business courses, and adults returning to quantitative material after time away.

I also work with college and graduate students in finance, corporate finance, accounting, and economics courses, and with professionals building Excel and financial modeling skills for work or career transitions.

I graduated from RPI with a degree in Business Analytics and passed the CFA Level II exam, so I am equally comfortable with pure math fundamentals and applied financial and quantitative subjects. I adjust the depth and pace of every session to match where you are and where you need to go.
