Championing That There is Nothing Wrong Being Dumb like Einstein for 15 Years!

Methodology

I prefer to help students from pre-K through 12th grade in mathematics, English language arts, and other subjects when necessary. I am focused and stick with the lesson plans if applicable, or follow the teaching instruction methods from the organization's text books, workbooks, and curriculum. My style is observant and informal to the student's needs, especially for the younger students in primary and middle schools--it doesn't have to be at a desk chair and table if it encourages a student be motivated and focused without too much deviation from the lesson goal for the day. I repeat, I quiz, I love to place miscalls to ensure comprehension has taken place, and the use of the Socratic method of questioning to aid a student's error handling in thinking, logic, and analytic skills.

Background

My teaching instructional experience began when my 3rd grade teacher saw my ability to help my fellow classmates with their homework. She encouraged me to help younger kids than me with their phonetics, word attack, and decoding reading skills. Eventually, I volunteered helping my peers in elementary, middle, and started my own private tutoring business by the time I was 16 in high school. Now that I was old enough to do part-time work, I was seasonally employed by a retired professor that started his chain of reading and math tutor clinics in southern California, and worked through my college years.

I have a Molecular Cell Biology & Biochemistry degree in which I used for advocating bloodless transfusion alternatives, and promoting philanthropic efforts to distribute gene-therapeutic medicine to third world countries when I had worked at a laboratory in Massachusetts as a lab and research technician in the genetics field.

I love to be a champion for kids in their learning development. I currently tutor and facilitate instruction in reading (including language arts) and mathematics (arithmetic through Calculus) for K-12 students at off-site campus locations. Particularly focus with students with general learning disabilities, dyslexia, and hyperlexia (autism spectrum disorders) that affects their cognitive imagery.
