About Charlene

I founded ASL Breaking Barriers (ASLBB) in 2018 as an extension to My Smart Hands London which came to be in 2004.

I started my ASL journey quite some time ago and feel in love with it immediately the language, the culture...the people. So while I was learning I began volunteering at a Deaf School and was quickly made aware of the language development of the hearing siblings of a Deaf child. They just had such early exposure to language that they developed language as a whole very early.

From there I worked for an organization for many years, which at that time serviced the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (HOH) community. When laid off from this position I immediately began to develop ASLBB. I saw the importance of being accessible and wanted to be a part of that growth in our community and beyond. It is a vital part of any business with inclusivity awareness being more predominant than ever before. We are committed to assisting you in being s who supports accessibility and inclusivity.

We love what we do and cant wait to get your ASL journey started.

Our rates on Superprof are for 8 weeks instruction/3 hours per week, (=24 hours per level) and the manual; ergo $190.00 + 140.00 =$330.00 ÷ 24 hours = $13.75 per hour plus taxes. NOTE: This amount is solely for ASL classes and not tutoring or other services. Please reach out to me for more information at any time.

About the lesson

I Strive to innovate & bring recognition of the importance of American Sign Language (ASL) in our communities, homes,, schools & business.

Through the use of ASL and ASL signs we help you bridge the communication gap between you and your staff, clients, co-workers, family, the elderly, those with disabilities, communication barriers and more.

With our qualified/certified Deaf instructors It is our goal to not only teach you on how to sign but to also educate you on the Deaf culture so you may better understand the culture, community and language as a whole.

In using the Signing Naturally curriculum we do our utmost to ensure your experience is fun and interactive. Hey we all know from childhood that if its fun it doesn't feel like learning.:)

Please note the above fee is solely the registration fee for ASL classes. (24 hours in total) In addition $145.00 workbook fee is required when registering.

One on one and other fees vary.

NOTE: "lesson pack fees, free class" etc do not apply. It would not allow me to adjust the settings. But again please dont hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
