About Alexander
Coming from a Peruvian background I always grew up speaking Spanish at home and more and more I see the benefits (especially) for young people in learning languages so I've always wanted to begin to teach.
I have little experience teaching 1 on 1, however I have taught lots in group settings doing essentially what I described as the lesson format and those workshops always received good feedback.
I have just begun my further studies after my A-levels, I'm a first year student at the University of Manchester studying for a Bachelor of Music Honours degree. I'm a pianist, guitarist and bass player.
Naturally, as a first year student I am currently living in student accommodation so I mainly offer lessons online. I could teach at home but I imagine most students would feel more comfortable in their own homes.

I can offer virtually any length lesson - I would suggest that 1 hour is appropriate for most students but can arrange half hour, 2 hour lessons etc.
Within reason I am happy to teach any age up to GCSE level foundation or higher. As mentioned I have both a GCSE and A level in Spanish and would structure my lessons similarly to how mine were and adjust them to the needs of my student.
This would typically include the first part of the lesson being for going over new or uncertain vocabulary. Then I would strongly encourage practising translation both from English to Spanish and vice versa as this reinforces both vocab knowledge as well as sentence structure and grammar.
If the student is studying for their GCSEs or SATs etc then I would go through past papers with them in the lead-up to their exams to test their abilities and see which area needs improvement the most and help with whichever part that may be.
My view is that language lessons should be taught in the subject language as much as possible so I would quickly try to encourage my students to go through as much of the lesson as possible in only Spanish as this helps with recalling and fully absorbing any material learnt.
