About Michael
I am a friendly and cheerful character with a passion for learning. I am currently studying Aerospace Engineering at the University of Bath. I chose to study this course as it combines several subjects which I enjoy such as Maths, Physics, Computer Science and Design Technology. They all come together to design and make new products which improve the quality of our lives.
Outside of my studies, I enjoy playing guitar and badminton. I really love aviation and space! I am a member of my university gliding society, rocket team and have my microlight pilots license. My favourite music genre is acoustic pop which includes artists like Sigrid and Ed Sheeran. My favourite movie is definitely The Martian, however, the book is even better!

I believe that successful learning comes from a combination of several teaching methods. Traditional show and tell is a well-proven technique, however, it must also cater to the individual learning style of the student. It is also important that healthy and effective study skills and habits are developed alongside tuition. The goal is to gain a true understanding of the topic content rather than just memorising it. Once this is achieved, a student can begin to use higher-level skills such as analysis, synthesis and evaluation (as illustrated by Bloom’s Taxonomy). This gives them the tools and knowledge in order to improve their academic performance.
Lessons will start with a five-minute recap of the theory from the last session. We will take as long as you need to look over any issues you may have had with the questions which you were given in the last session or have been given as homework. Following that, we will move onto the theory for the next topic. Where possible I will demonstrate the connection between the theory and it’s practical uses. We will then go through sample questions together showing the best method for numerical problems. The lesson will close with a short recap and a few self-assessment questions as a measure of progress.
