About Shreya
Hi, I’m Shreya, an MEng Chemical Engineering graduate from University of Birmingham with a strong passion for mathematics and helping others develop confidence in the subject.
Throughout my academic journey, I have always enjoyed problem-solving and understanding the logic behind mathematical concepts. I achieved an A grade in A-level Mathematics, and I continue to use mathematics regularly within my engineering degree to solve complex problems and analyse real-world situations.
I want to teach because I understand that maths can sometimes feel challenging or overwhelming, but with the right guidance and approach, every student can improve and enjoy the subject. I find it rewarding to help students understand concepts they previously struggled with and see their confidence grow.
As a University Student Ambassador, I have experience communicating with and supporting students from different backgrounds, which has helped me develop the ability to explain ideas clearly and adapt my communication style to different learners.
My aim is to create a positive and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building the skills they need to succeed.

I believe the best way to learn maths is by building confidence and understanding the reasoning behind each method, rather than simply memorising formulae. My approach is personalised to each student, adapting lessons to their current ability, learning style, and specific goals.
I begin by identifying areas where the student feels less confident and focus on strengthening the fundamentals before progressing onto more challenging topics. I use clear explanations, worked examples, and guided practice to help students develop problem-solving skills and become more independent learners. I encourage students to ask questions and create a supportive environment where making mistakes is part of the learning process.
A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although this can be adapted depending on the student's needs. Lessons usually involve reviewing previous topics, introducing new concepts step-by-step, completing practice questions together, and ending with key takeaways or areas to focus on before the next session.
I achieved an A grade in A-level Mathematics and have graduated with an MEng in Chemical Engineering at the University of Birmingham, where I regularly applied advanced mathematical concepts to engineering problems. Through my role as a University Student Ambassador, I have also developed experience explaining complex ideas clearly and supporting students from different backgrounds.
I offer lessons for students studying Mathematics up to A-level, including GCSE and sixth-form students. Whether a student is looking to improve their understanding, build confidence, prepare for exams, or achieve a higher grade, I tailor my teaching approach to help them reach their goals.
