Teaching Plan: One-on-One Tutoring for Higher Math & Chemistry

Approach & Philosophy
As a tutor, I aim at more than providing lessons—I provide mentorship based on patience, personal development, and long-term progress. My mission is to guide students to become confident, independent thinkers who can approach difficulty with resilience. My belief is that deep learning does not result from hurrying through formulas or memorizing procedures—it results from active problem solving, sincere questioning, and constructing a foundation together, over time.

Things I Teach

I tutor high school and early college students who are taking challenging academic classes, such as:

AP Chemistry

IB Chemistry HL

IB Math HL

AP Calculus AB & BC

Algebra 2

Math Analysis / Math 3

These are difficult subjects—and they're meant to be. My task is to locate each of my students exactly where he is, and to lead him forward with clarity and confidence.

Teaching Methods & Techniques

One-on-One Personalization: I individualize each session based on the student's learning style, current curriculum, and goals. We don't read from the same script—we map it out together.

Concept Before Practice: I learn why first before moving to how. After the concept is clear, we practice it with specific practice problems.
Active Learning: I ask questions all the time—not to test, but to stimulate thinking. I get students to explain their thinking out loud, which develops mastery and confidence.

Real-World Relevance: Whenever possible, I make esoteric topics relevant to everyday examples. This allows students to see relevance in what they are learning and stay interested.

A Sample Lesson Plan

Each session is structured, but flexible:

Check-in (5–10 min): Brief check on how the student is doing with the material, recent homework, or class discussion.

Conceptual Focus (20–30 min): We delve into a single concept, breaking it down and working through examples as a class.

Problem Solving (20–30 min): Student does problems while I guide, help, and make adjustments as necessary.

Wrap-Up (5 min): We review what was learned, list remaining questions, and establish small goals for the next session.

What Makes Me Unique

Mentorship Mindset: I don't merely teach—I form relationships. Students don't work with me simply to pass a course, but to develop their confidence and critical thinking over the long term.

Flexible, Real Support: I adapt to the student's needs and pace. No two sessions are the same because no two students are.

Empathy & Encouragement: I've taken these courses myself, and I understand how frustrating they can be. I provide a judgment-free zone to struggle, learn, and triumph.

Who These Lessons Are For This tutoring is perfect for: AP or IB high school students who require regular assistance in STEM fields. Students who seek something more than test prep—students who wish to learn and develop. Students who are left a little behind in accelerated classes and need someone to walk beside, not in front of, them.
