About Val

I'm a full-time student in chemical engineering, which is a field built on math and chemistry. I therefore have a deep understanding of these subjects. My future goal is to become a college professor, meaning that I enjoy teaching enough to pursue it for my career. I see tutoring as one of my steps toward that goal as I practice and develop my ability to communicate.

About the lesson

I am a very visual learner and thinker, so my teaching involves a lot of pictures. Chemistry is essentially applying math to models, so understanding the models can be very foundational in learning. Similarly, in math, graphs and diagrams give a physical or visual representation to concepts that would otherwise seem abstract. As a college sophomore, I am not distant from having to learn things, so I can be more accessible to high schoolers. I am looking to teach high school level math and chemistry from standard curriculum up to AP courses.
