About Zachary
I am a second-year Chemical and Biological engineering student with a sharp acumen and a keen interest in building construction and project management. I have strong foundational knowledge in physics and a passion for building and construction design. Since specializing in Chemical and Biological engineering this past year, I have realized that I am more suited to studying civil engineering. In my first year of engineering, I took Physics 170, which is a mechanics course related to civil engineering and I engaged deeply with the content of this course. In addition, I have always had a strong design sense and I am confident that I have an aptitude for construction and the processes leading up to the development and building of a structure.
Throughout my studies at UBC, I have developed exceptional communication and problem-solving skills by working on various team lab projects. In my chemical and biological engineering course this year I collaborated with group members on weekly project write ups and calculations. Additionally, I spearheaded a team presentation on Polylactic Acid Manufacturing which required me to coordinate our work sessions and consolidate our learning. I am a natural leader and I accomplish tasks efficiently and effectively. I am proficient at several software programs such as CAD, Excel, Word and PowerPoint, and am currently enrolled in courses to study Python and increase my knowledge of coding. I pride myself on being detail-oriented, adaptable and organized.

I spend most of the time with you going over problems and solving them directly with you, ensuring you understand how to do them and the theory behind the equations. Sometimes I let the student go ahead and talk about themselves and it can be a bit therapeutic for them to pick a brain of a university student. I encourage students to ask questions throughout our tutoring sessions.
