About Calvin

My fascination with chemistry began with curiosity about the principles behind reactions, molecular structures, and the logic of chemical systems. This led me to pursue a B.Sc in Chemistry and an M.Sc in Chemical Sciences, providing a solid foundation in both theory and laboratory practice. Over 11 years, I have taught learners across different levels, helping them grasp complex concepts, build analytical reasoning, and develop confidence in solving challenging chemical problems.

I follow a teaching methodology that emphasizes clarity, application, and engagement. Lessons include step-by-step problem-solving, conceptual explanations, interactive experiments, and real-world examples to reinforce learning. I encourage students to think critically, experiment safely, and approach problems with logical reasoning, ensuring mastery and long-term comprehension.

Beyond teaching, I remain connected to chemistry research, laboratory developments, and applied chemical projects. Witnessing students grow from initial uncertainty to confident understanding, performing calculations accurately, and reasoning critically is highly rewarding. My mission is to cultivate learners who are proficient, confident, and inspired to explore the world of chemistry with curiosity and precision.

About the lesson

Chemistry is the science of understanding matter, reactions, and the interactions that govern the world around us, and my lessons aim to make these concepts accessible, logical, and engaging. I cover organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, analytical methods, reaction mechanisms, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, and experimental design. Lessons combine theoretical explanations, practical problem-solving, lab simulations, and applied examples to strengthen conceptual understanding. Students are encouraged to question, experiment, and analyze each reaction carefully, gaining confidence in both calculations and real-world chemical reasoning.

Lesson plans are personalized according to proficiency. Beginners focus on foundational concepts, atomic structure, basic reactions, and simple lab techniques. Intermediate learners study reaction mechanisms, equilibria, stoichiometry, thermodynamics, and analytical methods. Advanced learners explore kinetics, spectroscopy, organic synthesis, and multi-step reaction problem-solving, with a focus on understanding chemical principles in depth. Each session integrates explanations, examples, and exercises to build conceptual clarity, practical skill, and confidence.

Studying chemistry develops critical thinking, analytical reasoning, and problem-solving abilities applicable in both academic and professional contexts. Students gain the skills to approach complex reactions, interpret data, and reason systematically.
