I tend to teach students in high school and the first year of college of all backgrounds. When structuring lessons, I generally focus on working through practice problems with the students while explaining why the procedure which I am demonstrating is effective. This way, the student understands the theory in addition to the procedure, making it more easily memorable and more easily applicable elsewhere.
I am a chemistry major and I have some experience with tutoring. I was a teaching assistant at Mount Holly Middle School as part of an internship in my senior year of high school. Before that, I participated in some math and science tutoring with students at my high school. Recently, I have also gotten experience tutoring online via Varsity Tutors, where I have tutored all levels of math from middle school math to Calculus 2, along with high school and college chemistry and physics. I am currently attending Furman University with the goal of obtaining a PhD in Chemistry and becoming a research scientist.
