About Ryan
I am a PhD chemistry student and my speciality research area lies within theoretical computational chemistry and machine learning. We are currently trying to build a machine learning model which is able to predict the properties of newly thought out catalysts before any further research needs to be undertaken!
I am an easy going tutor who believes the student should pave their own way to success and will aid them do so. I hope my students are able to achieve academically from my sessions as well as being able to use experiences to enhance their career opportunities.

My Lessons will generally be 1-2 hours long depending on the needs of the student. I like to begin most of my tutoring sessions with a past paper (again depending on their level) to distinguish key areas where the student needs help. Once this has been done, a teaching plan and strategy will be shared with the student so that I can help them improve on their weaknesses. For students who aren't quite at exam level, I would request the exam board that the student is studying and if possible, their school teachers teaching schedule so that lessons can be inline and reinforce learning at school.
I am a firm believer of integrating exam questions into sessions as this will prepare the student to achieve in the final exam. Many exam questions take the same structure year in year out so it is key that the student recognises and can answer these comfortably. I also believe linking theory to real world examples, as well as giving the whole theory/story behind concepts, helps the student learn these more easily. It also allows the student to apply concepts more strongly.
The qualifications I hold are a 1st Class Honours Degree in Chemistry and working towards my PhD. I have A-levels in chemistry, Physics, Biology and Maths. I have had experience in tutoring a Y10 student in mathematics, a Y2 student in mathematics, a Y9 student in chemistry and have also worked at a secondary school for 12 months in the science department.
I can confidently tutor GCSE, A-Level Chemistry and GCSE Maths. I can also confidently tutor certain topics for A-Level chemistry and undergraduate chemistry. I am also happy to consider tutees of all ages, even primary school.

I have known Ryan as his A level chemistry teacher and have been in contact with him and his journey into academia.
He has observed lessons, as an undergraduate, and has co-taught and led lessons with me on a number of occasions. He is always well prepared, highly focused and professional in his demeanor. He has a presence in his lessons of an experienced tutor. He actively engages students by varying his level of communication to the correct level - a rare skill for someone so young.
I have encouraged him to engage in education to the highest level. I am very pleased and proud of him for giving education back during his journey. I know he will impress his students, his colleagues and his managers.
Dr. Nick Moorcroft (retired)I highly recommend Ryan as a tutor. Before taking sessions with Ryan I always described myself as a person who does not like exams. After taking the sessions I felt very comfortable answering exam questions. I also liked the way Ryan explained things by telling the full story rather than just what we needed to know for the exam. This made learning much more easy and also fun!
