About Farnaz
My name is Naz and I'm a science educator and chemical engineer based in the Bay Area. I earned my BS in Chemical Engineering from San Jose State University and am completing my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science this June. I have hands-on classroom experience teaching chemistry, physics, and physical science at both the middle and high school level across several Bay Area districts. My background in engineering gives me a deep content knowledge that helps students truly understand the "why" behind science concepts — not just memorize formulas. I'm passionate about making science accessible and engaging for all learners. I'm bilingual in English and Spanish, so I can comfortably support multilingual students in both languages. Whether your student is struggling or wants to get ahead, I meet them where they are and help build real confidence in science.

I hold a BS in Chemical Engineering from San Jose State University and am completing my Single Subject Teaching Credential in Science this June. With 15 years of tutoring and teaching experience, my lessons are tailored to each student — whether you're building foundational understanding or pushing ahead. I draw on real classroom experience teaching chemistry, physics, and physical science at the middle and high school level, using inquiry-based, hands-on approaches that make concepts click. Every session starts by identifying where you are, then moves step by step through concepts, practice problems, and real-world connections. I work with middle and high school students in chemistry, physics, physical science, and general science. I'm also bilingual in English and Farsi, and happy to support Spanish-speaking learners in their preferred language.

Farnaz is the best tutor! I worked with her while taking Calculus I and II. She is so kind and explains everything very clearly. My favorite part is that she explains the "why" behind things. This helped me understand concepts more fully and remember them for the long term.
Farnaz did a great job tutoring my high school junior in math (IM4) during the last 2.5 months of the school year. She is patient, kind, flexible, reliable, and knows the subject matter. My daughter's test scores rose from 70s to 90s and she gained a lot more confidence. (We wish we would have found Farnaz earlier!) Our tutoring experience was so positive that we decided to continue with weekly sessions to help my daughter prepare for the math portion of the SAT.
