About Soren

I am a chemistry student at the University of Bristol, where I achieved a First in my first year. I have always had a strong passion for chemistry and maths, earning top grades at school and college, along with near-gold awards in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge and Chemistry Olympiad competitions, taking my passion and knowledge beyond the curriculum.

I offer tutoring for secondary and college-level students, including both neurotypical and neurodivergent learners (I am autistic myself—very sociable and understanding of different learning needs).

I began tutoring in year 10 during the COVID-19 lockdown as a volunteering opportunity, helping a fellow KS3 student from my secondary school with STEM topics over two hour-long sessions. Meeting both virtually and in person helped us build a friendly bond, which I believe is key to creating a comfortable, confident learning environment. The fellow student was then happier and more confident with the content after I taught it to him thoroughly. This experience showed me how rewarding tutoring is—not only does it support others’ growth, but it also deepens my own understanding. I really value the connections formed through learning.

I specialise in physical, organic, and inorganic chemistry, as well as maths. I am most familiar with AQA GCSE Chemistry, OCR A A-level Chemistry, and Edexcel GCSE Maths, but I am happy to support students studying other exam boards too.

About the lesson

My sessions are friendly, structured, and fully tailored to each student’s preferred learning style. I assess understanding through their approach to topics and exam questions, identifying and addressing any knowledge gaps. I use a range of techniques to help students grasp challenging material—breaking down complex topics, highlighting key terms, using diagrams and analogies, and guiding students through step-by-step practice. Whether you’re struggling with confidence or aiming for top grades, I aim to make learning engaging, clear, and encouraging. Each lesson is one hour long.
