About Mila
My interest in chess began with a fascination for strategy, logic, and problem-solving. I earned a B.Sc in Mathematics and Cognitive Strategy, which enhanced my understanding of analytical reasoning and decision-making. Over 9 years of coaching, I have guided learners of all ages and abilities, helping them develop strategic thinking, confidence, and a love for the game. I believe effective chess instruction requires patience, clear explanation, and individualized attention. Many learners struggle with planning or board visualization, so I break concepts into manageable steps, provide examples, and encourage reflective thinking. I focus on building both skill and confidence, ensuring that learners feel capable and motivated. Outside teaching, I stay engaged with chess through analysis of games, study of classic strategies, and participation in tournaments. Coaching chess is rewarding because I witness students develop sharper reasoning, better focus, and improved decision-making. Helping learners grow intellectually while enjoying the game is the most fulfilling aspect of my work.

Chess lessons become meaningful when students develop both tactical skills and strategic understanding. My lessons focus on fundamental piece movements, opening principles, positional analysis, tactical combinations, endgame strategies, and pattern recognition. I emphasize thinking ahead, planning moves, and evaluating positions carefully, helping learners improve not only their chess performance but also their problem-solving and analytical skills. Lessons are structured, engaging, and designed to build confidence and critical thinking.
Lesson plans are adapted to each student’s skill level. Beginners focus on piece movement, basic tactics, simple endgames, and understanding check and checkmate. Intermediate learners develop opening strategies, board vision, calculation techniques, and positional play. Advanced learners refine complex strategy, tournament preparation, advanced endgames, and psychological aspects of play. Practice games, post-game analysis, and feedback are integral components of every lesson.
Chess lessons also develop patience, focus, and logical reasoning. Students learn to anticipate consequences, make informed decisions, and manage pressure in gameplay. My goal is to help learners enjoy chess while gaining skills that extend beyond the board into analytical thinking and strategic planning.
