About Lorenzo
Chess coach since 2018, I have lived and worked in England, Australia and Italy. I have an English C2 certificate and I'm completely fluent in two languages, but can overall speak five languages to a conversational level.
Teaching is my passion and my vocation. I taught Judo in my teenage years and I have been teaching Chess for 6 years now. I have also taught Italian and English.
I believe in a clear and comprehensible method of teaching. Patience is key, and it's important to make sure the students understand the subject at hand before moving to the next one.
I believe everyone can learn anything, given enough time and care!

About the lesson

Lessons are 1 hour long and take place on zoom using the online chess platform lychess.
The first part of the lesson is conducted by tackling a topic I have chosen beforehand. It's usually a specific opening, or a type of checkmate, certain tactics and so on and so forth.
After that, halfway through the lesson, we practice what we've just learned though puzzles and exercises.
The last 15 to 20 minutes of the lesson are dedicated to a free game between me and the student. That helps practice further what we've learnt so far and also gives me ideas for future lessons.
The first lesson is free and it starts directly with a free game to give me a rough idea of the level we are at, followed by exercises, for the same purpose.
If the student is completely new, I'll start by explaining how the pieces move and their relationships on the board, followed again by simple exercises and then maybe by a game at the end.
