About Melanie
My interest in chess began with a fascination for strategy and problem solving. This led me to complete a Master’s in Cognitive Studies, where I developed strong analytical and thinking skills. Over the past 9 years, I have helped students learn chess in a structured and simple way that builds confidence and strategic understanding.
I believe chess should be taught with clarity and practice. My teaching approach focuses on explaining strategies step by step and encouraging students to think independently. I support learners in improving their skills through regular practice and analysis.
Outside teaching, I enjoy playing chess and studying different strategies. This helps me keep lessons engaging and effective. Teaching chess is very meaningful to me because I see students grow from beginners to confident players. Helping them develop strong thinking skills and confidence is one of the most rewarding parts of my work.

Chess becomes interesting when students understand strategies instead of just memorizing moves. In my lessons, I focus on basics such as piece movement, opening principles, middle game planning, and endgame strategies using simple explanations. I break down each concept into small steps so students can follow easily without confusion. I also include practice games and puzzles to improve thinking and decision-making skills. Each session is interactive and supportive, helping students learn in a focused and encouraging environment.
As students progress, lessons are adjusted based on their level. Beginners focus on rules and simple strategies. Intermediate learners work on tactics, planning, and game analysis. Advanced students focus on advanced strategies, pattern recognition, and competitive play. I provide regular practice, guided games, and feedback to ensure steady improvement and strong understanding.
Chess helps students develop logical thinking, patience, and decision-making skills. As they improve, they become more confident in planning moves and understanding the game deeply. These skills are useful in both academics and everyday life. My goal is to make chess simple, engaging, and rewarding so students feel confident in their ability to think strategically and play independently with clarity and confidence.
