About Jamie

I'm a Neuroscience graduate from the University of Edinburgh, which shapes how I teach: much of my study was about memory and pattern recognition, so I base my lessons in methods that are proven to work, though everyone learns a little differently.

I teach GCSE and A level science, GCSE English Literature, chess and biological sciences to the undergraduate level, with a strong academic background and plenty of personal experience to draw from.

Previously I have spent a year private tutoring English in other countries, both in person and through online lessons when I am in the UK. I love teaching and think it's important to build a positive relationship to get the most out of lessons.

About the lesson

Lessons are personalised to each student, focusing on where you need to improve the most for beginners to intermediate (up to around 1600).

Chess requires understanding many different concepts, and we will focus on one area each lesson to really reinforce specific skills, one topic at a time.

I will provide interactive puzzles and exercises to work through during the lessons - applying these concepts as you learn is the most important part of consistent improvement.
