About Maia
My teaching methodology revolves around four key principles: Accountability, Creativity, Communication, and a student-centered approach. I believe that a strong foundation in chess comes from not just understanding the rules but also developing the ability to think critically and strategically. I ensure each student is accountable for their learning progress, setting clear goals and tracking achievements along the way. This encourages self-discipline and confidence. Creativity plays a major role in my approach, as I encourage students to think outside the box during gameplay. By exploring different strategies and solving puzzles, students develop their problem-solving skills while having fun. Communication is another cornerstone of my methodology. I make sure that complex concepts are explained in simple, clear terms so students feel supported and confident in their abilities. In addition to chess, I can also teach related subjects like strategy, logical reasoning, and critical thinking, all of which complement the skills learned in chess. My aim is to create a positive, engaging learning experience where students are not just learning to play, but also building important life skills.
