About Lawrence
I am working on Superprof to use the interconnected nature of the World Wide Web to share knowledge that facilitates the experience of being human. Fiber art is a universal craft, and has historically been passed through interpersonal, one-on-one lessons. I use (self-drawn) illustrations, and guided making to facilitate learning, however I am more than welcome to accommodate alternative learning methods. Continuing this practice pays respect to the people who took the time to teach me. My goal as a teacher is to inspire and support people in their creative expression.
When I started teaching in a yarn and quilting shop, I was astounded by the demonstrated skills students showed through their continued interaction with fiber art: patience, resilience, and attention.
These are relevant skills for all walks of life, not just for artists. Broadening the access of interpersonal lessons through digital means supports the continuation of these skills in an attention economy that perpetuates instant gratification.
