Hi, I'm Cody! Unlike many Mandarin tutors, I started as a native English speaker with no Chinese background and worked my way up to professional-level Mandarin through the Chinese Flagship Program and advanced training at the Defense Language Institute. Because I've personally gone through the challenges of learning tones, characters, grammar, listening, and speaking, I know exactly what English speakers struggle with and how to overcome those obstacles. My lessons are personalized, practical, and focused on helping students build real confidence and make fast progress, whether you're a complete beginner, a student taking Chinese classes, preparing for exams, or simply learning for fun. My goal is to make Chinese less intimidating, more enjoyable, and much easier to learn than it was when I first started.
