About Rodrick

Hi, I’m an 18-year-old native Mandarin speaker based in Melbourne, I was born in Guangzhou China, half of my life in Melbourne. I enjoy helping students learn Chinese in a relaxed, supportive, and practical way.

My lessons are tailored to each student’s level, goals, and learning style. I focus on helping students build confidence in speaking, listening, pronunciation, and everyday communication. I like to keep lessons interactive and easy to follow, with a strong emphasis on real-life language use rather than just memorizing vocabulary and grammar.

I am patient, friendly, and well organized, and I always aim to create a comfortable learning environment where students feel encouraged to ask questions and make progress at their own pace. I can also explain things clearly in English when needed, which is especially helpful for beginners.

My lessons are suitable for beginners, school students, adults, and anyone who wants to improve their conversational Mandarin or learn more about Chinese language and culture. My Approach to Tutoring

As a native Mandarin speaker, I focus on making Chinese learning practical, enjoyable, and easy to understand. My lessons are tailored to each student's goals, whether they want to improve their speaking, pronunciation, listening, vocabulary, or everyday communication skills.

I use a relaxed and interactive teaching approach rather than relying only on textbooks. Lessons may include conversations, pronunciation practice, role-playing, vocabulary exercises, and real-life situations. I encourage students to speak as much as possible and help them build confidence in using Chinese naturally.

Typical Lesson Length

Lessons are usually 60 minutes long, although I can also offer 30-minute lessons for students who prefer shorter sessions, especially beginners or younger learners.
My Qualifications and Experience

I am a native Mandarin speaker with strong English communication skills. While I am not a professionally certified teacher, I am friendly, patient, and passionate about helping others learn Mandarin. I can explain Chinese concepts clearly and fluently in English and adapt my teaching style to suit each student's learning pace and needs.
