About YING

I am a professional Chinese tutor with a strong background in art history and museum education. I have four years of experience working in the museum sector and previously served as a Chinese-language art guide at the British Museum, where I explained artworks and cultural concepts to Chinese-speaking audiences. My teaching is structured, well-prepared, and tailored to each student’s level and learning goals. I value clarity, accuracy, and respectful communication, and I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel confident using Chinese and asking questions.

About the lesson

My Teaching Approach
I offer personalised 2-hour Chinese lessons that combine language learning with art history and global visual culture. Each course is tailored to the student’s Chinese level and personal interests. Rather than relying only on textbooks, I use artworks, artists, and museum-related topics as learning materials. This approach allows students to practise Chinese in a meaningful, real-world context. While learning Chinese, students also develop aesthetic awareness and gain a deeper understanding of world art and visual culture. Language learning and aesthetic training happen at the same time.

Lesson Structure & Length
Each lesson lasts 2 hours, allowing time for conversation practice, guided learning, in-depth discussion, and practical language use. Lesson content and pacing are adjusted according to the student’s level, goals, and interests.

Experience & Background
I have 4 years of professional experience in the museum sector and have previously worked as a Chinese-language art guide at the British Museum, delivering guided tours and explanations of artworks to Chinese-speaking audiences. This experience allows me to explain complex artistic and cultural concepts clearly in Chinese and adapt explanations for learners at different levels.
