With very rich experience in teaching Chinese, my class is interesting, and will cover listening, speaking, reading, and writing, hope you like it!
My teaching method and techniques:
1. Situation-based Method – In the situation-based method, the lessons are taught based on a real-world scenario. I will use some specific practical topics and situations that happen in daily life to pass the culture and knowledge, eventually connected to (a) grammar point(s) that hopefully will spark the curiosity and interest of the students. Making learning fun is essential to my teaching method.
2. Using Audio and Visual Method – Using the Audio and Visual Method, my lessons are taught to entice the auditory by using music and sounds. In class, students learning Mandarin would hear me pronounce a word and let the students say it back. This continues until the students get the correct pronunciation since Mandarin is a tonal language.
3. Substitution Method – I am doing different substitution drills that help sharpen the student’s memory and improve their language proficiency. I will help students to remember words and phrases and how to use them correctly.
4. Practice Method – The best way to practice is to converse with Mandarin-speaking friends and acquaintances. As the old saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” In my class, we will have a lot of practice.
