About Siva Mugilan

With a background in Civil Engineering and my current role as a Regional Business Development Manager in the Passive Fire Protection industry, I bring both strong analytical skills and real-world problem-solving experience into the classroom. Although my primary career is in engineering and business, I am passionate about education and enjoy guiding students to build a solid understanding of mathematics. I have the ability to break down complex concepts into clear, step-by-step explanations, and I strive to help students gain both confidence and practical skills in applying what they learn.

About the lesson

I believe every student can understand mathematics when it is taught in a clear and structured way. My approach is: • Step-by-step explanations: Breaking problems into smaller parts so students don’t feel overwhelmed. • Practical examples: Relating math concepts to real-life situations (measurements, problem-solving, logical thinking). • Interactive learning: Encouraging students to solve problems with guidance rather than passive listening. • Confidence building: Focusing on practice, encouragement, and celebrating small achievements so students gain belief in their ability. Lesson Structure • Typical lesson length: 1.5 to 2 hours (depending on school level and student focus). • Lesson flow: 1. Quick review of previous topics/homework. 2. Introduction of new concepts with examples. 3. Guided practice questions. 4. Independent practice with support. 5. Wrap-up and a short assignment for revision. Qualifications & Experience • Degree in Civil Engineering, which required a strong mathematical foundation (calculus, algebra, applied mathematics). • Currently a Regional Business Development Manager in the engineering industry, where I use math daily for analysis, planning, and problem-solving. • Experience mentoring junior engineers and colleagues, guiding them through technical and business concepts in a clear and structured manner. Who My Lessons Are For • Primary and Secondary school students (Standard 4–6, Form 1–5) who need support in Mathematics. • Students preparing for UPSR / PT3 / SPM examinations. • Students who may be struggling with confidence in Math and need a patient, structured approach.
