About George

Hi there, I'm George. I've just recently graduated with a Master's in Civil Engineering from the University of Bristol. During my time at university, I was also Vice President for the Uni Big Band Society and worked professionally within the Bristol music scene. I have multiple years of experience in tutoring, having tutored Drums and Percussion, as well as assisting in coaching youth level cricket, since the age of 15. I currently teach 2 days a week at schools and with private students. I have more recently started to offer Maths tuition, after previous tutoring experience around my A Levels. I believe I am patient and adapt well to the understanding of students as lessons progress. Having taken the new formats of both GCSEs and A Levels, I believe I have an up-to-date knowledge of the current curriculum and exam boards, and can offer exam tips and techniques suited to the new styles of exams. With over a decade of experience playing gigs on the drums and multiple years teaching, I believe I understand how to deeply learn content so it can be used creatively with ease at a given moment. This also allows a greater space for critical thinking to take place. I believe I create a fun and enjoyable environment for learning through my experience coaching cricket and leading groups of volunteers, where the emphasis is placed more greatly on the environment first and learning, second.

About the lesson

I aim to help students find their own methods and ways of understanding curriculum content, through offering multiple ways of looking at example problems and questions. I believe allowing students to find their own understanding aids in learning content quicker and avoids the boredom often found in learning by heart. I am happy to tailor my lessons to students' needs and believe I can help students gain a greater understanding of content taught at school, or alternatively guide them through new content to stretch them further and give them a head-start on their school curriculum.

George's drum tuition style is extremely friendly and perceptive, and I really enjoyed having him as my tutor for the year. His experience meant he always found a way of teaching a concept that made sense to me, so leaning with him was very intuitive! My progression would've been a lot slower without his help and he managed to break down many walls & plateaus I found myself coming up against. Fully recommend!
