About Kyla June

Hey there! I’m Kyla June, and I absolutely love playing the clarinet! I’ve been playing since September 2021, which means I have over 5 years of experience practicing, performing, and navigating school bands.
Because I am a high school student myself, I still remember exactly what it feels like to pick up the clarinet for the very first time. I know how tricky it can be to get those first few notes out, how frustrating a random squeak can be, and how overwhelming sheet music can look at the beginning. That is exactly why I started teaching! My goal is to be the friendly, supportive mentor I wish I had when I was first starting out.
When I’m not practicing my own music or working on school, you can usually find me at color guard practice or watching movies! I love working with younger kids, and I pride myself on being patient, enthusiastic, and super encouraging.
Whether your child is brand new to the clarinet, trying to get ready for middle school band, or just needs a little extra boost to build their confidence, I am here to help them succeed while keeping things completely stress-free and fun! I can’t wait to meet you and your student!

About the lesson

My lessons are designed to be positive, encouraging, and completely tailored to your child's unique pace! I believe that learning an instrument should be a fun adventure, not something that feels like extra homework. Because I am a student myself, I explain things using simple, everyday language that kids find easy to understand.

How our lessons are structured:
• The Warm-Up (10 Mins): We always start by focusing on tone and air support. I share the best tricks to help beginners stop squeaking and get a full, beautiful sound out of their clarinet right away.
• The Core Lesson (35 Mins): We dive into our method book! We will work on reading sheet music, learning new notes, and mastering finger positions using clear, step-by-step goals so your child never feels overwhelmed.
• The Fun Finisher (15 Mins): We wrap up every lesson by playing a fun song or a musical game to celebrate what they learned that day and keep their excitement high!

What I provide:

I give every single student a free, visual weekly progress tracker. This lets them physically check off their achievements and proudly see how much they are improving month after month.

I love celebrating the small wins, and I promise to create a relaxed environment where it is completely safe to make mistakes and learn at a comfortable speed. Whether your child wants to get ready for middle school band or just wants to try out a new hobby, I am here to cheer them on every step of the way!

I know Kyla from middle school, long term best friend. We did band together in middle school, she always played clarinet and was extraordinary at it. She was a good teacher to fellow clarinet players, and did awesome during performances. She taught me to play a little bit just for fun, and I know quite a bit from only a day of learning from her.
