About Oscar
Oscar Matthews is a Brisbane-born aspiring classical pianist who is studying a Bachelor of Music at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, under the tutelage of Daniel de Borah. Oscar began his piano studies at age six and has immersed himself in music ever since.
Oscar has performed as a soloist and in chamber ensembles in various venues, including at the University of Queensland (for the Australian Piano Pedagogy Conference), the Queensland Conservatorium Theatre, and St Andrew’s Church, Brisbane. Oscar has also performed as a guest artist with the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale and Brisbane Concert Orchestra. A recent performance highlight was Oscar’s performance of Beethoven’s Concerto in C minor (Third movement) with the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra as part of the 2023 Conservatorium Concertos festival. He will be performing the entire concerto with the Sunshine Coast Symphony Orchestra in July this year.
Oscar has participated in lessons and masterclasses with esteemed pianists Jayson Gillham, Piers Lane, Roy Howat and Mikhail Solovei. He obtained the Licentiate in Music (LMus A) diploma during high school and has won many awards from multiple competitions, including the Queensland Piano Competition. When he is not practising piano, Oscar enjoys reading, cooking and listening to CDs and records.

Hello there! I'm currently accepting applications for piano students to start from Term 4 2023.
In lessons, I can teach piano and music theory to all different skill levels, from beginning to advanced. Each lesson is designed to cater to the individual needs of the student.
I have had 2 years of experience with piano teaching, having taught multiple students, and student results have included a 100% success rate with AMEB piano exams.
I teach in my studio equipped with an upright piano in Indooroopilly, Brisbane.
