About Josie

I graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education. With more than 4 years of private teaching experience, I maintain a flute studio in Maple, Toronto, and am currently teaching flute lessons in a music school (Richmond Hill) and in a church (North York). I was also a flute mentor and had given flute workshops to elementary/ high schools around Toronto.

About the lesson

Only online lessons are available now, and a laptop connecting to an external microphone is strongly recommended for the audio clarity. I value one’s learning goal (eg. to get better with flute, to play in the school band, to take RCM exam, to learn as a habit) and explore methods that works best for the student. I will suggest etudes and exercises that helps to improve the technique, and repertoires that suites student’s interest, as well as incorporate music theory during the lesson.

You have a nice tone in the middle register and good finger technique, the next step I would suggest for you is to practice long tones in extreme registers, play with more dynamic contrast and give direction to the music.
