About Joan
Practicing the violin involves a deep understanding of posture and hold that I have refined over 8 years of experience. I have taught 377 students how to balance the technical demands of scales with the artistry of performance. Whether you are self-taught or preparing for ABRSM exams, I provide the structure you need.
Shifts and intonation become second nature through my methodology. You might even find that we make house calls to keep your practice environment comfortable. I look forward to working with your family.

Sometimes the hardest part of learning is finding the right feedback on your bowing technique. I find that steady, consistent correction creates the most reliable results for my students.
Shifting positions should feel like a natural extension of your arm movement rather than a chore. Having taught for 8 years, I recognize exactly when to push for better sight reading and when to pause. Proper preparation for examinations is a core part of my curriculum. My method ensures long term technical success.
